WWXL-Slalom

Over four events athletes will compete for points that will contribute to their overall score in a bid to win WWXL SLALOM 2017.

Only athletes entered in the WWXL SLALOM Open Category are eligible for prize money.
Athletes may only enter in ONE category for the WWXL SLALOM event (i.e. Open, Master, or Junior).

Entry Criteria for Open Category (ENTRIES ARE CLOSED)

Open To: Entry is open to any athlete from any nation regardless of their world ranking

Age Criteria: Open to any age

Entry Fee: $140NZD (includes a minimum of 4 training sessions)

Prize Money: Prize money is allocated for the WWXL SLALOM Open category (see Prize Money & Points here)

Entry Restrictions: Entering this category makes you ineligible to win any other WWXL SLALOM category

Open course for speed and risk taking. One run to find the Top 8 and then the field halves after each subsequent run.

Race Two - WWXL Slalom - Qualification
Ranking based on ICF rules.

Race Three - WWXL Slalom - Semi Final
Progression and ranking based on ICF rules.

Race Four - WWXL Slalom - Final
Ranking based on ICF rules.

WWXL-Master

Entry Criteria for Master Category (ENTRIES ARE CLOSED)

Open To: Entry is open to any athlete from any nation regardless of their world ranking

Age Criteria: 39 and over (athletes who turn 40 in 2017 are eligible for Master category)

Entry Fee: $140NZD (includes a minimum of 4 training sessions)

Prize Money: There is NO allocation of prize money for the WWXL SLALOM Master category.

Entry Restrictions: Entering this category makes you ineligible to win any other WWXL SLALOM category.

Slalom Race Format & Rules

Thursday 23 November - 4PM-7PM - WWXL SLALOM KnockOUT
All participants race in Open Category for the WWXL SLALOM KnockOUT. See Point allocation here

Running order:

  1. K1M
  2. C1W
  3. C1M
  4. K1W

Rules:

  • Everyone has one run on a course with 8 gates (including 2 ups) – normal rules regarding penalties and gate negotiation remain.
  • Only a single pole on a gate.
  • Athletes will be ranked according to first run time for those who do not progress. Juniors and Master boats count in terms of Open placing.
  • Top 8 in each class get another run (score from this run counts).
  • Top 4 in each class get another run (score from this run counts).
  • Top 2 get a final run.

Friday 24 November – 7pm-8pm Practice Run
All athletes get one run only. If you are racing multiple classes, choose your preferred class.

Saturday 25 November - 8am - 4pm WWXL SLALOM Qualification, Semi-final and Final

  • Junior Men K1 - One qualification run, all will get a semi, top 10 only will get a final. Bottom 10 will get a B Final.

  • Open Woman K1 – One qualification run, all will get a semi, all will get a final.
  • Open Men K1 – One run and all go through to semi. All will get a semi, top 10 will get a final.

*To be eligible for prize money in WWXL SLALOM you must compete in all four races of WWXL SLALOM event.


INSURANCE

All athletes are covered by New Zealand’s public insurance company – Accident Compensation Corporation (ACC) – for treatment for injuries sustained while in New Zealand. Details at http://www.acc.co.nz.

Note: ACC does not cover treatment if an injured person leaves New Zealand and therefore is not a replacement for an individual’s travel insurance.

As a condition of my participation in WWXL, I hereby unconditionally and irrevocably consent, authorise and grant Environmental White Water Park Trust (EWWPT), the event organisers of each event, and their respective affiliates, sponsors, promoters, advertisers, broadcasters, webcasters, contractors, agents, representatives, licensees and assigns (together, the “Releasees”) all the necessary authority, right and license and permission to use photographs, audio or video recordings, or other forms of recordings that capture my image, likeness, voice or performance (or all of these) (collectively hereinafter referred to as “images”), in which I may be included in whole or in part, in any manner or media, including print, broadcast, internet media, direct marketing channels, downloadable content and applications, and all other technologies now known or hereafter developed. The images may be used or exploited for any commercial or non-commercial purpose whatsoever, and may be altered, modified, changed, combined or incorporated into other works I hereby relinquish any rights I may have in the images (including privacy, personality and publicity rights. In no event shall I seek or be entitled to injunctive or other equitable relief in connection with the use of the images. No fees or other compensation whatsoever will be provided to me for or in connection with the use of the images.
